How I Am Creating My Life
We all have things we want to create in our lives, what do you want to create?
Hello wonderful people!
Quote from the week: When we focus on how we're the same as others rather than different, we unlock access to their brilliance.
Last November, I made a decision. I walked away from my startup work, the side projects, all of it. I was creating space for a role that usher me into my next evolution of life.
I had five months of runway and a very strong belief: there was a role out there that would excite the heck out of me, and I just had to find it.
My two ingredients:
A strong belief that role existed
Daily action toward finding it
So I put my resume out into the universe, worked my butt off each day, and trusted it would land in the right hands.
I was four months in and began calculating which friends' couches I could crash on to extend my runway. I was going to make it happen.
Then, on a random Monday in March, my phone buzzed.
Initially, I didn’t recognize the name. It was a text from someone I'd spoken with one time during my senior year of college. We hadn't talked since.
"Hey Ben, what are you up to?"
"Funny enough, I'm actually looking for my next job. How about you?"
"Let's hop on the phone and catch up."
That Monday, we hopped on the phone.
If you'd told me a year ago what happened next, I wouldn’t have believed you. But here we are:
"Hey Ben, so last week I put it out into the universe that I needed someone to be my right hand as I transition into a more spiritually aligned business and life. As I was heading to bed last night, you popped into my head.”
I sat on the other end of the phone not understanding what was happening.
“Would you be interested in being that person?"
I started that week.
Since then, creation has only accelerated.
Creating My Life From My Being Outwards
I'm writing this from Bozeman, Montana, where I booked a flight two weeks ago with no place to stay and no plan. Just an intention to be with nature and keep evolving.
It's working :)
During that time two weeks ago, I put out into the world (and wrote about it) that I wanted to create a ‘summer camp’ for myself to accelerate more self-understanding.
I'd been inspired by my month living at Edge Esmeralda in June, where I met David Kirby (Acton School), Kelly Smith (Prenda), and Courtney Klein (All One Thing).
I saw how they were creating ‘learners’ in their schools.
I wanted to be a learner! I committed to creating my own version of an Acton School for the summer.
But two weeks in, the ‘camp’ I’d created wasn’t feeling like the camp I’d envisioned.
Then Tuesday happened. I joined John Patrick Morgan's Being Accelerator. A membership for coaches building their businesses. It's the first time I've committed an amount of money towards coaching. It paid for itself in the first few days.
Thursday, JP released a newsletter explaining how he was creating an Acton School in Maui for his kids because he'd already created his own version of an Acton School for coaches... The Being Accelerator.
I don’t make this stuff up.

But wait, there’s more…
This past week, I devoured Tara Springett's The Stairway to Consciousness. TWICE.
The book outlines nine stairs of consciousness that we all ascend. We must graduate from one to reach the next. We all have a dominant stair that shapes how we show up in the world.
We all have parts of each stair but there is one we are most embodying.

The first read through, it took me almost the entire book to recognize where I am.
But once I did? I was off to the races.
I resonated with the Responsibility stair.
I spent my entire Saturday at a Bozeman coffee shop re-reading the sections on Sharing (where I was), Responsibility (where I am), and Love (where I'm going). I'd read for five minutes, then write for ten. Repeat. Until the entire book was done.
It was one of those moments when I lost track of all time and forgot to eat lunch, but my only focus was reading more.
There was immense resonance. Confirmation from my body that my being was expanding.
I felt Responsibility is all about CREATION.
It starts with taking responsibility for everything in our life. All of it. When we assume responsibility for everything, we become the ones who can create everything.
One huge lesson that wouldn’t have made sense to me a year ago, but has changed the way I see life: we choose our parents.
Yes, you read that correctly. We choose our parents.
(I recommend Many Lives, Many Masters to further this idea).
AND our parents aren’t to blame for the things we aren’t. None of it.
The blocks and triggers in our lives aren’t because our parents didn’t give us this or didn’t do that. It’s our current feelings and thoughts we have about those things that limit us from being free of them.
Tara gives an example that if you say “My brother ruined my life, and now I can’t find love,” that current resentment towards your brother is creating the obstacles to finding love rather than anything else you may have experineced in the past.
You have the opportunity to free yourself from those resentments and beliefs.
No blaming of the outside world.
AND in choosing radical responsiblity, I don’t beat myself up for any of it. I combine responsibility with love! Love for the human being I am.
Imagine what can be created from a place of love and power! Your greatest desires!
We all have things we want to create in our lives.
Our Being determines what we create. If we take responsibility for who we are being, watch out. Now you have the wheel to creation.
I think of my Being like an "I am ___" statement.
I am love = Being of love
If you're being loving, you'll make loving decisions. But if you're being angry, anxious, or stressed, you'll make angry, anxious, stressed decisions. Suddenly, you have a life that mirrors that energy.
Now imagine embodying love. You can do this in any moment. Think of someone you deeply love. Feel that love. Now, from that way of being, what would you create?
Pretty powerful, right?
I wouldn’t ask you to do anything I haven’t done. If I am asking you to go and create your greatest desires, then I better be creating my own!
WE CREATE TOGETHER.
Create from the Being up :)

A painting from a gallery I was at yesterday that is embodying the energy I’m in.
